Welcome to Laxmi: Celebrating Myanmar Food, a hidden gem located in the vibrant market scene of Phra Khanong, Bangkok. Tucked away at 930, 4 Sukhumvit Rd, this quaint Burmese restaurant offers an authentic taste of Myanmar, complemented by influences from Indian and Chinese cuisine.
As I stepped into Laxmi, I was instantly embraced by the aromatic scents wafting from the kitchen, a fusion of spices that speaks to the heart of Burmese culinary traditions. The cozy atmosphere, adorned with simple decor, draws you in, making it a perfect spot for a laid-back meal. The restaurant’s unpretentious vibe only adds to its charm; it's a place where the focus is undeniably on the food.
One of the standout dishes I had the pleasure of tasting was the Shan Noodle, a beloved staple that embodies the essence of Myanmar cuisine. Its harmonious blend of flavors—rich broth, delicate noodles, and fresh toppings—creates an unforgettable experience that transported me straight to the streets of Shan State. Accompanying this delightful dish was the fried tofu, which was perfectly crisp and paired beautifully with their house-made dipping sauce.
Another highlight was the delectable chicken biryani. The tender chicken fell right off the bone, infused with a symphony of spices that awakened my taste buds. For those who enjoy a sweet finish to their meal, I highly recommend trying the Burmese tea, which is not only affordable at merely 15 THB but also exceptionally refreshing, though available in a less sweet option upon request.
It’s worth mentioning, however, that being a popular local haunt, some dishes may not always be available. My attempt to savor the Mohinga—a traditional fish soup—was thwarted, but this did not detract from the overall experience. The friendly service, often bustling with locals, made me feel right at home, even as one of the few non-Myanmar customers in the restaurant.
In every bite at Laxmi, there is a story, a celebration of culture, and a connection to community. Each dish is prepared with care, showcasing not only the flavors of Myanmar but also the spirit of sharing and hospitality that defines it. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur of Burmese cuisine or a curious foodie eager to explore, Laxmi is a must-visit destination. So gather your friends, embrace the adventure of flavors, and let Laxmi whisk you away on a culinary journey through Myanmar!

A small Burmese restaurant in the market. There are a variety of Burmese food, Chinese food and Indian food. The food is good and the price is fair. I recommend Shan noodle and fried tofu. Moreover, the Burmese tea is good amd the price is only 15 thb.

The chicken biryani is really good, the chicken is so soft and tender, falls right off the bone. The tofu salad is ok. Tea is sweet but you can ask to make it less sweet on order. Be aware that some of the dishes are sometimes not available. I wanted to get Mohinga and coconut rice dish but those two were not available at that time. It's a small restaurant. A little hard to find because it's not on the main road. They have Burmese, Indian and Chinese food here. Some of the dishes take a while to make so you might have to wait a bit. They have free wifi while you wait for your food. Prices are good, very affordable.

Nice little Myanmar and Indian food and snacks shop. Not expensive and has good taste. We got back our Myanmar taste and Shan noodle back.

A small place located inside a local market. The food was good and the prices inexpensive. If you've never had it before, definitely try the fermented tea leaf salad. The chicken curry we had was nice too. Friendly service. I think my Thai friend and I were the only non-Myanmar customers in the place.

This is a very basic restaurant in the lanes and alleyways of Phra Kanong market. Lots of Burmese take away places here and a couple of dine in places. This has good reviews and I can see why. Friendly service mainly for locals but as a brave Falang with a love for Burma I ventured over to eat here. It’s part of the fun of travel right ? The food was great. Good flavours, nice fritters and the sauce was really good. Cold beers and so cheap! Maybe they made a mistake . Leave them a good tip like I did ! Check out the photos. Yummy.

Lovely place! The salads were perfection, the milk tea was very delicious--everything was great. Menu in English available, and staff friendly. We'll definitely come back again!
